What does RCMPC stand for?

RCMPC stands for ReCommerce Marketplace for PCs. We're a Canadian company built specifically for buying and selling used PC hardware across Canada. The name is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek nod to Canadian iconography, we're aware of the similarity, and yes, we've heard the jokes.

Is this like eBay, or more like Facebook Marketplace?

Right now we're closer to Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji. Listings are posted by individuals, and transactions are arranged directly between buyers and sellers, typically as local meetups. Shipping is supported but not yet integrated end-to-end. That's coming. If you want to ship, you can indicate that in your listing and arrange it with your buyer or seller directly.

Are there buyer or seller protections?

We're early-stage and don't yet offer the kind of escrow or transaction guarantees that eBay does. What we do have is a platform designed from day one around trust and safety, with verified profiles, a review system, a structured Check-In system for meetups, and active moderation of reports. Every report is taken seriously and bans are enforced. Stronger transactional protections are on the roadmap. In the meantime, we encourage common-sense practices: meet in public, check parts before paying, and trust your gut.

Is it free to buy and sell?

Yes, completely free for now. No listing fees, no transaction cuts. As we grow we plan to introduce optional features like Featured Listings and shipping integration, but the core marketplace will always be accessible without paying. We'll be transparent with the community before anything changes.

Is shipping available?

Accepted Answer

You can mark your listing as shipping-available, and many sellers do ship. However, we don't yet have integrated shipping labels or carrier partnerships built into the platform. Shipping arrangements and costs are currently worked out between buyers and sellers directly. Integrated shipping with better rates is one of our most-requested features and is actively on our roadmap.

How do I report a fraudulent listing or user?

Every listing has a report button. You can also reach us directly through the Contact Us page. We review every report and take action, including permanent bans, when fraud or misrepresentation is confirmed. If something feels off, report it. You're protecting the next person too.

What categories do you support?

Accepted Answer

We currently support GPUs, CPUs, motherboards, RAM, storage, PSUs, cases, cooling, monitors, peripherals, accessories, bundles, and full builds. GPU support goes back to the HD 7000 and GTX 700 era; CPU support goes back to early Ryzen and older Intel generations. Laptops, handhelds, and enterprise/homelab gear are on our radar and community interest will drive how quickly we get there.

Deal Alerts let you save a search so you get notified when a new listing matches what you're looking for. You can filter by category, price range, condition, and location. Set it once and we do the watching for you. You'll need a free account to use it. Set yours up at rcmpc.ca/alerts.

What is the Kijiji Import Tool?

If you already have a listing on Kijiji, you don't have to start from scratch. Paste your Kijiji URL into our import tool during listing creation and we'll pull your title, description, and images automatically. It's designed to make cross-posting as painless as possible.

What is the Check-In System?

The Check-In System is our safety feature for in-person meetups. Both parties can log a scheduled time and location, check in when they arrive, and designate a trusted contact who gets notified if something seems off. If a check-in doesn't happen as expected, your trusted contact receives an alert via SMS or email. We built it because high-value hardware meetups carry real risk and buyers and sellers deserve better than just meeting in public and hoping for the best.
